Del Toro X Grateful Dead Brunch
On Saturday, June 23, Del Toro hosted a brunch in partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue to promote the launch of the Del Toro x Grateful Dead collection sold exclusively at Saks. Del Toro designed a new collection of shoes and hats inspired by the well known American Rock band, Grateful Dead. These shoes embody all of what Grateful Dead is and captured the vibe of the band. The tie-dye Chukkas with the well known marching bears on the side, velvet slippers with “Steal Your Face” motif perfectly represent the band.

The Surf Lodge is a one of the kind hotel, located in Montauk, New York and represents everything a seaside getaway should be, and more. Just when you thought your luxury stay couldn’t be more dope… As a matter of fact the Surf Lodge is host to some of the most fire performers of all time. In short, The Surf Lodge over the years had turned into a hot spot for the Hamptons’ most elite. So obviously it was the perfect place to host a celebration of Del Toro x Grateful Dead collection.
If you are a fan of celebrities, The Del Toro Brunch was the place to be! This high profile event attracted a range of notable attendees including Kevin Love…. A long time fan of the Del Toro brand, Love “loves” to score points with his fashion game. Del Toro comes in with the assist by making footwear big enough for NBA players. In addition to this NBA all star John Tietz, fashion editor at GQ attended the event. His influence in the industry undeniable, and his attendance a demonstration of Del Toro’s expanding reach. As shown below other guests included fashion models, Anna Christina Schwartz and Brooke Buchanan. Overall this event was very successful.
The collection which features five slippers, six chukkas, and four hats, features embroidery that pays homage to iconic Grateful Dead imagery, album covers, and intrinsic Dead motifs. The centerpieces of the collection spotlight the Grateful Dead’s “Steal Your Face” logo, which is seen on a classic black velvet slipper, a premium black Bottalato chukka and light-weight hats perfect for the warm weather. In the spirit of the Summer of Love, the collaboration also features bold tie dye, seen in a leather Chukka with Dancing Bears and a “Steal Your Face” hat. The other motifs utilized in the collection include Bertha with roses, Jerry Garcia’s “Tiger” and the carrousel skeleton horseman. Select styles are also available for women.
Pop Up Shop
As a celebration of the launch, Del Toro hosted a pop-up shop at The Surf Lodge for VIP guests and “Deadheads.” They were able to catch a first glimpse of the collection and purchase items.
