As part of Del Toro’s annual Art Basel artist collaborations, this year Richard Woods and Del Toro have collaborated on four unique silhouettes. Woods is an English artist whose work has been showcased throughout major museums in both Europe and the U.S. He specializes in textures and architectural designs, and uses the combination of the two as his playground.

Del Toro Creative Director and President, Matthew Chevallard, first fell in love with Woods when he painted the restaurant in his father’s building in Torino, Italy. Chevallard connects his early childhood to Woods, recalling  “I have an especially sentimental connection to Richard because he painted the restaurant in my deceased father’s apartment building in Torino, Italy where he lived for over ten years and I associate many childhood memories with Richard’s work.”

He describes the translation of the collaboration into a shoe as:

“I translated Richard’s work in a similar way he applies his work to building facades and floors by applying it to the “wall”or back panel of the chukka in a digitally printed format on Bottalato leather paired with the same leather in different color. The slipper is a more straightforward wood panel application to give one the effect of walking on a floor in a figurative and literal way,”

Here are the four models which will be available in Del Toro Boutiques in Miami (Wynwood Boutique), New York (SOHO Pop-Up), and Detroit Somerset.

All four will be available for Men. Both the Blue Chukka, and Blue Slipper will be available for Women. Retailing at $395 for the Chukkas, and $375 for the Slippers.

You could also find them here online, at Deltoroshoes.com.
